On February 3, key local personnel from Scandinavian Enviro Systems and Antin Infrastructure Partners’ joint venture company Infiniteria, moved to the site outside Uddevalla where the joint venture company is establishing its first full-scale recycling plant. Among the personnel now starting to work from the site are Fredrik Alpner, Plant General Manager, along with about ten other key individuals.

Kal Tire is actively working towards a more sustainable mining industry by implementing strategies to extend tire life, repair and retread used tires, and recycle end-of-life (EOL) mining tires. With over 50 years of servicing the mining sector, the company recognizes the high costs of mining tires and aims to maximize their lifespan, reducing waste and supporting customers' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments.

Orion S.A., a global specialty chemicals company, announced that it has signed a long-term supply agreement with Contec S.A., which will provide Orion tire pyrolysis oil to produce circular carbon black for tire and rubber goods customers. The agreement with Warsaw, Poland-based Contec further enables Orion to diversify its sources of tire pyrolysis oil, commonly known as TPO.

Evonik has launched Smart Effects, a new entity counting 3,500 employees worldwide, born from the strategic merger of its Silica and Silanes business lines that will be part of "Advanced Technologies" within the new company organization. This merger leverages the expertise of both business lines to deliver innovative solutions that benefit both customers and the planet.

The Competitiveness Compass for the EU highlights the need for securing critical raw materials, a crucial aspect for the tire industry which relies heavily on natural rubber. The European Commission’s renewed focus on industrial resilience must include a dedicated Rubber Strategy to ensure long-term supply stability and sustainability.

Tire Technology Expo 2025 is set to take place on March 4-6, 2025, in Hannover, Germany. A research team from the School of Chemical & Process Engineering at the University of Leeds, UK, has published a comprehensive study in the Journal of the Energy Institute (Volume 118, 2025) on the thermal decomposition of end-of-life tires (ELT) and plastics. The study investigates the potential of co-pyrolysis, a process that thermally decomposes mixed materials under oxygen-free conditions, to enhance the production of valuable products such as oil (TPO), gas, and char (raw rCB). Utilizing a laboratory-scale batch reactor, the researchers focused on a 1:1 mass ratio of tire and plastic feedstocks, examining the synergistic effects of decomposition and their impact on product quality and yield.
