In the beginning of February, a tire pyrolysis plant of Kargro / Dutch Green Carbon in Nederweert, Netherlands, suffered from fire. No one from the company’s personnel, nor from the residential area adjacent to the plant was injured. The fire department has taken control of the fire and has stated that no increased quantities of dangerous materials have been released.

The Park Rapids DNR Forestry Office received a call from an unidentified person last week who stated that Hubbard County Highway Department practiced illegal tire incineration in Laporte, Minnesota, US. This is alarming as the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency warns that unsafe substances are released in the air due to burning tires. Following the reports, Liberty Tire Recycling was contacted with requests to process tires.

Gradeall’s Truck Tyre Rim Separator is a new machine which has been specifically designed to separate steel or alloy rims from truck tyres. The company reports that it follows on from the success of Gradeall’s original Tyre Rim Separator which has been used in a wide range of sites on passenger and commercial vehicle wheels. With more and more customers interested was there a way to do the same for truck tyres, this machine has been designed and built by Gradeall to provide that function.

Australian state of Victoria is now testing an innovative sustainable drainage technology for rubberized concrete called Equine Air after it was installed last summer at Pakenham Racecourse as a replacement to conventional road base. Equine Air is considered to be capable of improving track drainage and can be used even during bad weather. Moreover, when it is used in horse racing fields, it is said to be able to reduce the animals’ injuries when they fall thanks to special cushioned foundation.

U.S. tire producers have attained considerable success in sustainability promotion as over 80 percent scrap tires that had been generated in the state, managed to find application on end markets in 2017, the U.S Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) asserted in its detailed report. The new report also revealed that USTMA’s members managed to reduce almost 10 percent the level of carbon dioxide emissions since 2010. The World Economic Forum annually held in a Swiss city Davos has awarded Lehigh Technologies, a company specializing in micronized rubber powder manufacturing, due to the corporation’s continuing efforts to give new life to materials derived from scrap tires. Lehigh Technologies is headquartered in US, Atlanta, and is a part of a global name Group Michelin after it acquired the firm more than a year ago.
